Stephen King has announced that he is working on a sequel to his bestselling novel The Shining, while promoting his latest release, Under The Dome.
Addressing a crowd at the Canon Theatre in Toronto, the 62-year-old author said that he had been thinking about the plot since last summer. The plot would follow the original protagonist from The Shining, Danny Torrance, now 40 and working as an orderly in a hospice for the mentally ill. His purpose for this is visiting patients about to die, and helping their transition using his unique abilities.
After he made the announcement however, King was keen to stress that his plans weren’t set in concrete, and although he was actively planning the novel it wasn’t a certainty that he would actually sit down to complete it. “Maybe if I keep talking about it I won’t have to write it,” he said, quoted by The Torontoist.
King’s latest novel is available through Hodder And Stoughton, priced at £19.99 in hardback.

This should be interesting… And at least we have Stephen King himself penning the sequel so it will be fantastic. Will he use the Overlook Hotel again though – maybe in flashback? It’ll be a novel I’ll be buying anyway, so hopefully he will finish it.
