Jurassic World ignores The Lost World and Jurassic Park 3

Jurassic World will function as a direct sequel to Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park

There have been some questions about how Jurassic World will address the events of the first two sequels to Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park. Well, the answer is…it won’t, really.

Yahoo reports that Jurassic World will act as a direct, 20-years-later sequel to Jurassic Park, as opposed to working as Jurassic Park 4.

“The previous sequels aren’t being written out of continuity so much as placed to the side, as they both unfolded on a different island,” their report states.

It’s hard to imagine anyone being too upset by the decision to quietly forget the city-stomping theatrics of The Lost World‘s finale, or the entirety of Jurassic Park 3, which is frankly difficult to remember anyway.

Jurassic World is in cinemas on 11 June in the UK and 12 June in the US. Get all the latest sci-fi movie news with every new issue of SciFiNow.
