Jordan Peele to make horror movie Get Out for Blumhouse

Key and Peele star writing and directing horror movie Get Out

The brilliant sketch show Key And Peele may have come to a close but Jordan Peele already has an exciting new project in the works (in addition to their kidnapped kitten movie Keanu, of course).

The Wrap reports that Peele will write and direct a horror movie called Get Out, which is described as a “racially-themed horror-thriller,” which has been set up at Blumhouse.

The film “follows a young African-American man who visits his Caucasian girlfriend’s family estate.”

Peele stated that “People know me for my work in comedy, but now I’ll get to focus on my passion for writing and directing horror films. Like comedy, horror has an ability to provoke thought and further the conversation on real social issues in a very powerful way. Get Out takes on the task of exploring race in America, something that hasn’t really been done within the genre since Night Of The Living Dead 47 years ago. It’s long overdue.”

Fans of Key And Peele will know that, in addition to offering provocative and thought-provoking takes on social issues, the show’s sketches also regularly slip into horror territory to hilarious effect. We can’t wait to see what Peele does with a horror movie, and we strongly urge you to watch the sketch below.
