Jessica Lange had previously announced that the fourth season of American Horror Story, Freak Show, would be her last, and she’s not changed her mind.

Deadline reports that Lange confirmed her departure at the AHS panel at PaleyFest, stating “Yes, I’m done.”

The fifth season of the Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk’s anthology horror is titled Hotel, and Lady Gaga has been confirmed to star. However, Lange definitely won’t be headline. “We’ve had a great run here,” she said. “I mean, I absolutely love doing these four characters, and in all the madness, I love the writers and Ryan (Murphy) and the insanity of shooting it.”

Meanwhile, EW reports that White Collar‘s Matt Bomer and 30 Rock‘s Cheyenne Jackson have signed on. Bomer made a guest appearance on Freak Show and is being reported as the co-lead alongside Lady Gaga, saying “I can’t confirm nor deny that there will be a romantic relationship with her.”

Given the nature of the show and Murphy’s ability to pack the cast out with cameos, we wouldn’t be surprised if Lange popped up somewhere in AHS: Hotel. It’s going to be interesting to see how the series copes without her presence, though. Lange’s stellar work has been one of the defining elements of AHS; will they try to replace her, or try something new?

American Horror Story: Hotel begins this October on Fox in the UK. You can buy American Horror Story Seasons 1-3 on Blu-ray for £32.95 at Amazon.co.uk. Keep up with the latest genre TV news with the new issue of SciFiNow.
