Jessica Jones casting – Transformers star is Hellcat

Find out who will be playing Trish Walker in Marvel’s AKA Jessica Jones

HellcatIn the wake of the casting reveals of Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones and David Tennant as Purple Man, the cast of Netflix’s Marvel serial AKA Jessica Jones is expanding even further, with yet another casting announcement, according to marvel.com.

Rachael Taylor, best known for playing hacker Maggie Madsen in 2007’s Transformers, will be coming aboard the good ship AKA Jessica Jones as Patricia ‘Trish’ Walker, a close friend of Ritter’s Jones.

Fans of the comics will probably remember her best as ‘Patsy’ Walker, who later becomes the costumed heroine Hellcat, serving stints on the Avengers, Defenders and Lady Liberators in the process.

On the series, however, it looks like her roots will be entirely difficult, as she plays a former child actress, model and current radio show host, as well as a close friend of Jones.

Speaking about the casting on Marvel.com, executive producer/showrunner Melissa Rosenberg said, “The character is a star and a powerhouse, and required an actress who is both. Rachael is all that and more!”

“Rachael’s ability to embody a character that must balance both the darker and lighter elements of our series will provide a perfect emotional anchor for Jessica Jones,” said Jeph Loeb, Executive Producer/Marvel’s Head of Television. “Rachael blew us away with her grounded, humanizing take on Trish, adding yet another layer to the complex, emotional story we’re telling with this series.”

AKA Jessica Jones will air on Netflix later in 2015. For more on the comics that have inspired the show, pick up our 100 All-Time Greatest Comics bookazine now!
