Jennifer Lawrence quitting X-Men after Apocalypse

Jennifer Lawrence says X-Men: Apocalypse will be the last film with her Mystique, so no spinoff?

Jennifer Lawrence’s star is considerably bigger than when she starred in X-Men: First Class, and it looks like the time might have come for her to step away from the franchise.

Speaking to MTV at the red carpet for her film Serena, she spoke briefly about X-Men Apocalypse, saying that “It is my last one, actually.”

There has been some talk about a Mystique spin-off movie, not surprising given Lawrence’s star power, but it also makes sense that she’d want to move on to other things; she’ll be done with The Hunger Games this year as well.

As SlashFilm points out, writer Simon Kinberg has talked about Apocalypse as a way to “complete the trilogy we began with First Class – to complete the stories of young Raven, young Hank, younger Charles and Erik.” Will this be the last outing for James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender as well?

X-Men: Apocalypse will hit cinemas on 27 May 2016. You can buy X-Men: Days Of Future Past on Blu-ray for £9.50 from Amazon.co.uk. Get all the latest superhero news with every new issue of SciFiNow.
