James Wan to direct Robotech, but what about Aquaman?

Everyone wants James Wan to direct their next big project, but which will be first?

james-wanJames Wan certainly seems to have his pick of big budget tentpole action movies at the moment.

THR reports that the director of Fast & Furious 7 and The Conjuring has been offered Robotech by Sony, a live-action remake of the 1980s Japanese mecha anime series.

The film version is described as “a sprawling sci-fi epic that takes place at a time when Earth has developed giant robots from the technology on an alien spacecraft that crashed on a South Pacific island. Mankind is forced to use the technology to fend off three successive waves of alien invasions. The first invasion concerns a battle with a race of giant warriors who seek to retrieve their flagship’s energy source, known as ‘protoculture,’ and the planet’s survival ends up in the hands of two young pilots.”

Wan is definitely committed to The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist next, and is reportedly still being courted by Warners to direct Aquaman. The THR report says that Universal are also definitely interested in having Wan direct Fast & Furious 8, which is understandable given that it’s made 1.3 billion dollars…

Surely he can’t do all of these projects…right?

The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist is released on 10 June 2016 in the US and 30 October 2016 in the UK. Keep up with the latest genre news with the new issue of SciFiNow.
