Iron Fist first trailer has one hell of a punch

Get your first look at Finn Jones in Marvel’s Iron Fist

We were wondering when we would get our first look at Iron Fist, Marvel’s next series to air on Netflix. Ok, we weren’t; we were fairly certain that we’d see it at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. In any case, here’s the first teaser trailer:

Although there’s not exactly a huge amount of dialogue, it ticks all the major story beats of Iron Fist’s origin story: crashed air craft, rescued by Tibetan monks, returning to New York – before punching an almighty hole in a brick wall, despite actor Finn Jones clearly not being all that buff. There’s also hints at a darker tale not present in the comics, as evidenced by a shot of Danny Rand tied to a hospital bed looking to be in some discomfort, which should add some interesting layers.

Out of all his Marvel Netflix counterparts, Iron Fist’s story is arguably the least well known, so it’s going to require that bit more exposition than the other shows did. Still, this teaser shows promise, and with Dexter’s Scott Buck at the helm, we’re quietly confident.

Before is the official synopsis for Iron Fist:

Returning to New York City after being missing for years, Daniel Rand fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.

In addition to Jones, Iron Fist also stars Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing, David Wenham as Harold Meachum, Tom Pelphrey as Ward Meachum and Jessica Stroup as Joy Meachum. In other words, there’s a whole lot of Meachums.

Marvel’s Iron Fist will air on Netflix worldwide sometime in 2017. You can download The 25 Greatest Marvel Comics Ever digital edition from GreatDigitalMags.com now. For more news about the latest series, pick up the new issue of SciFiNow.
