Inside remake casts Continuum star in pregnancy horror

[REC] filmmakers cast lead role in remake of Maury & Bustillo’s Inside

The Jaume Balaguero-written remake of Maury & Bustillo’s brutal, brilliant 2005 French horror Inside (A l’Interieur) has found its lead.

Variety reports that Continuum star Rachel Nichols will headline the story about a heavily pregnant woman who comes under siege in her own home from a woman who wants to take her baby by any means necessary.

The idea behind the remake is explained by producer Adrian Guerra, who said “We took the original idea and made it an edge-of-your-seat thriller, more Hitchcockian than a splatter-fest.”

There’s definitely something interesting in this approach, and the fact that they have a clear idea of what they want to do with it. The original film is absolutely berserk with wall-to-wall gore, and a more restrained approach could work nicely, and we’re huge fans of Balaguero’s work on the [REC] movies and Sleep Tight. That being said, it is going to have to be very good indeed to top the original.

This isn’t Nichols’ first horror; she was a bully in Lucky McKee’s underrated The Woods, was chased around a car park by Wes Bentley in P2, and was an unfortunate babysitter in the Amityville Horror remake. We’re assuming that she’ll be playing the pregnant lead rather than the intruder, but the report doesn’t make that clear.

You can buy Inside on DVD for £19.22 at Amazon.co.uk. Keep up with the latest horror news with the new issue of SciFiNow.
