Idris Elba’s been the subject of a lot of heated discussion recently following all those James Bond rumours, but it looks like he might be developing his own franchise.

Variety reports that Elba is developing a trilogy of fantasy films based on Marc Olden’s 1978 novel Poe Must Die.

The book “is set in New York City in the 1840s, with Edgar Allan Poe fighting demonic forces and his personal demons while teaming with a renowned fighter pursuing a sorcerer who murdered the fighter’s wife. The sorcerer is seeking the Throne of Solomon, which will grant him immortality and control over Lucifer.”

The article doesn’t state whether Elba is looking to star in the project as well as produce, but the plot synopsis has certainly grabbed our attention, and you can never have too much Idris Elba.

He can next be heard voicing Shere Khan in Jon Favreau’s The Jungle Book, and he’ll pop up as Heimdall in Avengers: Age Of Ultron.

You can buy Poe Must Die for £5.60 at Amazon.co.uk. Keep up with the latest sci-fi news with the new issue of SciFiNow.
