The I Saw The Devil remake just got a lot more interesting.

The Wrap reports that writer-director partnership of Simon Barrett and Adam Wingard, the duo behind A Horrible Way To Die, You’re Next and The Guest, have signed on to write and direct the film, originally directed by Kim Jee-Woon.

The original film is a brutal, powerful piece of work that stars Lee Byung-hun (A Bittersweet Life) as a special agent who hunts down a serial killer (Oldboy‘s Choi Min-sik) who murdered his pregnant fiancée. Every time he catches the murderer, he tortures him and lets him go… only to repeat the process all over again.

The site states that Barrett is already at work on the script and that Wingard is meeting actors. Having seen The Guest, we’d suggest that Dan Stevens would be a great choice for the role of the vengeful agent…
