I Am Legend prequel

by Alasdair Morton

Speaking at Comic-Con, director Francis Lawrence has revealed that work has begun, albeit in early stages, on a follow up to I Am Legend

alg_i-am-legend.jpgSpeaking at Comic-Con, director Francis Lawrence has revealed that work has begun, albeit in early stages, on a follow up to I Am Legend.

“We’re trying to figure out some ideas for it,” Lawrence says, “but it would be a prequel.” Set before the events of the first film, he talked about how they were considering the film’s setting and its look: “It’ll be slightly different [to the first film] so the approach will be different; we’re not positive of the time of year because if you go into winter, you can do some entirely different things.”
Will Smith is rumoured to be interested, however, it is unclear the direction a prequel would take without running over similar, or identical ground, to the movie we already have. The involvement of Lawrence, and the fact that Smith hasn’t ruled out his return either, bodes well though.

I wasn’t at all excited about the first movie – why wait for this?

I can’t believe that they had to cgi (badly by the way) all of the ‘zombies’ or whatever in that movie.
Couldn’t they find a slightly anorexic looking extra that could stand and scream every now and then?

The dogs were the worst – I saw better dogs in the original Resident Evil game fifteen years ago….
