Humans Series 2 confirmed by Channel 4 and AMC

Excellent news as Channel 4 and AMC’s AI drama Humans gets a second series

humansThe superb Channel 4/AMC co-production Humans, written by Sam Vincent and Jonathan Brackley, has been renewed for a second series.

Variety reports that the critically acclaimed (and justifiably so) series, which is based on the Swedish series Real Humans, has been a success for both broadcasters, with strong ratings both in the US and the UK.

Humans is set in the near future where incredibly lifelike robots, known as synths, have become a part of everyday life. While many have embraced the technology, others fear that the human race is being shunted to one side. So how will the world react when they hear about the small group of synths who have been given consciousness, and how will these very special beings respond?

The series stars Gemma Chan, Katherine Parkinson, Colin Morgan, Neil Maskell, Ivanno Jeremiah, Ruth Bradley, Emily Berrington, Danny Webb, Sope Dirisu, Tom Goodman-Hill, Lucy Carless, Rebecca Front, Will Tudor and William Hurt.

Humans has been consistently excellent since its debut, and we’re very pleased to hear that it will get the chance to keep telling its story.

Humans concludes on Sunday night on Channel 4 in the UK. Keep up with the latest genre news with the new issue of SciFiNow.
