Harry Potter and the Cursed Child first look at the Granger-Weasleys

Ron, Hermione and Rose get into costume for the Cursed Child

Yesterday, Pottermore gave us a first look at Jamie Parker, Poppy Miller and Sam Clemmett as Harry, Ginny and Albus Severus Potter in costume for JK Rowling’s new play, Harry Potter And The Cursed Child. Now we’ve been treated to a first look at the Granger-Weasleys.

Paul Thornley (The Brothers Grimsby) and Noma Dumezweni (Doctor Who) are playing the Wizarding World’s greatest power couple Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger (note that Hermione, of course, kept her Muggle maiden name), while Cherrelle Skeete (Call The Midwife) is playing their daughter and eldest child Rose Granger-Weasley.

Another point of interest is Rose’s Hogwarts robes. We could be wrong, but her cardigan seems to feature a splash of yellow. Has Rose finally broken the Weasley Gryffindor streak, and been sorted into Hufflepuff?

Speaking to Pottermore, Skeete said: “I can’t think about how big it is or I’ll just faint. Putting on my uniform, ready to go to Hogwarts, and seeing everyone else in their uniform was exciting. I’ve been looking at it every day in the wardrobe department, waiting for the day I can get on the Hogwarts Express.

“Rose is ambitious, obviously her mum is Hermione so she’s got a lot to live up to. I think they’re quite similar in the fact they put a lot of pressure on themselves. And she just wants to do the right thing.”

She just wants to do the right thing? That’s soooo Hufflepuff.

Harry Potter And The Cursed Child opens in at the Palace Theatre, London, in July. Get all the latest fantasy news with every issue of SciFiNow.
