Hannibal Season 3 spoilers: Will Graham love interest revealed

Hannibal Season 3 gets closer to Red Dragon as a very important character to Will is cast

nina-ariandaHannibal continues to get closer to the Red Dragon storyline with a new casting announcement for Season 3.

Following the news that The Hobbit‘s Richard Armitage will be playing serial killer Francis Dolarhyde/The Toothy Fairy, TVLine reports that Nina Arianda has been cast as Molly Foster, who fans of Thomas Harris will know as Will’s wife. The character was played in Manhunter by Kim Griest and Red Dragon by Mary-Louise Parker

This ties into the time jump that will take place in episode 8, which will introduce the characters as already married. Molly is described as “a strong, vibrant thirtysomething who is not only unperturbed by her husband’s dark and occasionally tortured past — but has worked to help him overcome it. She “understands that Will is a good man, and her love has allowed him to rebuild himself. But when Will is asked to return to the FBI, she also urges him to try and save lives, knowing what risks this entails.” Arianda has previously appeared on 30 Rock and The Good Wife, and appeared on Broadway with Hugh Dancy in Venus In Fur.

As we know, the first few episodes will focus on Hannibal and Bedelia Du Maurier (Gillian Anderson) on the run in Florence, which will take elements from the book Hannibal, including Inspector Pazzi (Fortunato Cerlino). We’ll also see the return of Mason (Joe Anderson replacing Michael Pitt) and Margot Verger (Katharine Isabelle), and the introduction of Tao Okamoto as Chiyo, who will incoporate a lot of the character of Hannibal’s aunt Lady Murasaki. The time jump does sound like a potentially risky strategy, but if any show can pull it off, it’s Hannibal.
