Godzilla 2 gets a monster release date

What do we want? Godzilla 2! When do we want it? Maybe a bit sooner. We’re quite impatient

Godzilla 2 will be roaring into cinemas again – but not for another four years. The monster movie is definitely in the works, but it’s turning up late to the party, with Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures announcing an 8 June 2018 release date.

We can all point fingers at director Gareth Edwards, who is returning to lead the project after his success with this year’s Godzilla. He is gearing up to start work on an untitled Star Wars standalone movie, which will be released in 2016.

“We get to make another one,” said Edwards at last year’s Comic-Con. “I’m just up here doing a small little sci-fi movie, as soon as that’s over will be Godzilla 2.”

Edwards also revealed that kaiju baddies Mothra, Rodan and Ghidorah will make appearances in the monster sequel, so prepare for shit to go down.
