Ghost Rider 3 could come from Disney, but probably won’t

Ghost Rider 3 rights return to Marvel, but that doesn’t mean it’ll get made says Kevin Fiege

The Ghost Rider film rights, like the Daredevil ones before it, have officially returned to Marvel Studios according to Entertainment Weekly, theoretically freeing up Disney to do their own take on the character.

With Marvel’s Phase 2 going great guns and Phase 3 in the planning stages – possibly featuring Black Panther, Doctor Strange and a titanic clash with Thanos in Avengers Assemble 3 – Marvel Studios boss Kevin Fiege is keen to point out that people shouldn’t jump to conclusions.

“Whenever a character comes back to us,” said Fiege, “it’s usually because the other studios don’t want to make the movies anymore – and that usually means the [previous] movies may not have been particularly well received. They all have potential, but we’re not going to say, ‘We got it back – make it!'”
