‘Fear Itself’ gives comic book sales a shot in the arm

Marvel event easily breaks 100,000, but sales still down on last year.

It was another tough month for comics, with the number one title – the opening issue of Marvel’s ‘Fear Itself’ event – selling north of 128,000 copies, but sales still being down 6.9% overall. Several titles surged in the month, however, including The Flash and Uncanny X-Men. To give you an idea of where the comic book landscape is at, the milestone issue 900 of Action Comics was outsold last month by Green Lantern Corps, part of the ‘War Of The Green Lanterns’ mini-event. Hopefully sales will get back on track with the launch of May’s ‘Flashpoint’ event.
