The Expendables and Terminator Salvation star Terry Crews has thrown his hat in the ring to play (presumably voice and mo-cap) Ben Grimm, aka the Thing, in Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four reboot.

“One character I always thought I could play is the Thing from Fantastic Four,” he told Newsarama. “Another character I’ve always loved as a fan is Colossus. If there was a way to make that happen that worked, I would love to be Colossus.”

Crews, who voices Blade in Marvel’s Ultimate Spider-Man animated series, has been rumoured to be playing Luke Cage, aka Power Man, but the star doesn’t put much stock in it.

“Some people bring up Luke Cage, but honestly I have to step out of that because Marvel’s never really expressed an interest in making it,” he added.

“If Marvel hasn’t expressed interest in it, why should I? I’m interested in actually doing a character that’ll see the light of day; that’s one of the reasons I chose to do Blade here. I don’t want to be a part of something that’s going to sit on the shelf and never get made.”

Fantastic Four is set for release 6 March 2015. You can buy John Trank’s Chronicle on Blu-ray for £9.75 at Amazon.co.uk.
