According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Wire and House Of Cards star Reg E Cathey has been cast in Josh Trank’s The Fantastic Four as the father of Sue Storm and Johnny Storm, the Invisible Woman and the Human Torch.
Starring alongside Kate O’Mara as Sue and Michael B Jordan as Johnny, Cathey’s character is referred to simply as Dr Storm, and is described simply as a scientist.
In the comics, Dr Franklin Storm gave up medicine, blaming himself for his wife’s death on the operating table.
Ending up on the wrong side of the law, he spent much of Sue and Johnny’s youth in prison and was eventually killed by the Skrull who attempted to turn him into a weapon to take out the Fantastic Four.
