Ex Machina first picture from Alex Garland’s AI sci-fi

Domhnall Gleeson and Oscar Isaac star in Alex Garland’s directorial debut Ex Machina

ex-machina-stillThe first look at Alex Garland’s directorial debut Ex Machina has appeared.

The picture (from HeyUGuys) shows Domhnall Gleeson (Dredd, Anna Karenina, Frank) and Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewyn Davis, Drive) in the first film directed by Garland.

Garland, of course, wrote the films 28 Days Later, Never Let Me Go, Sunshine and Dredd, and has stepped behind the camera for this AI tale.

“Caleb, a 24 year old coder at the world’s largest internet company, wins a competition to spend a week at a private mountain retreat belonging to Nathan, the reclusive CEO of the company. But when Caleb arrives at the remote location he finds that he will have to participate in a strange and fascinating experiment in which he must interact with the world’s first true artificial intelligence, housed in the body of a beautiful robot girl.”

The film also stars Alicia Vikander (A Royal Affair).

Ex Machina does not currently have a release date. You can buy Dredd on Blu-ray for £6 at Amazon.co.uk.
