Ellen Page is returning to the role of Kitty Pryde for Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Days Of Future Past, and stated in an interview that she would definitely be interested in a Kitty Pryde spin-off movie by Joss Whedon.

Speaking to Vulture, Page was presented with the fact that Whedon has often spoken of his love for the character, who was an influence on his own Buffy Summers and that he would love to make a Kitty Pryde solo film.

“I have heard that, yeah! Well, I’m available! [Laughs.] I love that. Kitty Pryde’s awesome. I’m super grateful to be the actress who’s gotten to be her, and you only desperately hope that the true fans who have a right to demand what they want and who have been passionate about these stories for a really long time, that you can pull it off for them. I would be so thrilled to play Kitty Pryde again. I really would.”

As we all know, Whedon is very much tied up with the Marvel movies, while the X-Men remain with Fox. This, in addition to the recent tussle over Quicksilver (played in Days Of Future Past by Evan Peters), is a reminder of how frustrating the division can be.

So far Wolverine’s the only X-Man to spin off into his own franchise, while Deadpool has stymied in development hell. It’s time to let someone else have a go.

X-Men: Days Of Future Past is released 22 May 2014. You can buy Joss Whedon and John Cassady’s Astonishing X-Men Ultimate Collection Volume 1 for £14.85 at Amazon.co.uk.
