Elizabeth Mitchell ‘will be in Lost’ next year

Producers confirm actress’ reappearance.

juliet_s4The character of Juliet, played by actress Elizabeth Mitchell, will return to ABC’s Peabody-winning show Lost next year, according to executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse.

At the end of the last season, Mitchell’s character was seen detonating a nuclear device, obviously prompting questions as to whether she would be coming back to the show next year. Speculation was further invigorated by the fact that Mitchell has signed on for the lead role in ABC’s remake of V, however, Lindelof is certain that her fans won’t be disappointed by any absence. “Well, again I think all this returns to the idea of whether or not her detonating the bomb had the desired effect,” he teased when SciFiNow spoke to him recently. “If it did, my guess is that she’s okay, and if it didn’t work, then probably the prognosis not so great, considering the fall. But I think we can say that Elizabeth Mitchell will be in Lost in the final season.”

The two producers also offered assurances that another character’s plotline will be satisfactorily resolved, something which seems to always be a question hanging over the production’s head, notorious for managing multiple plotlines at once. “You will be seeing a lot of Richard [Alpert], and I think we would be incredibly remiss if we didn’t give you Richard’s back story before the show ended,” said Cuse, before being backed up by Lindelof. “As one might infer, Richard’s flashback is fairly involved, so yeah, you might be seeing that in the final season.” Lost’s sixth and final season debuts in the midseason.
