Dracula Untold is officially a Universal monster movie

Luke Evans’ Dracula could be a part of Universal’s monster movie reboot…on one condition

The upcoming supernatural epic Dracula Untold, starring Luke Evans as the Count, got rolling before Universal announced their plans to reboot their classic movie monsters.

Now, Badass Digest are reporting that reshoots have taken place that should allow the movie to slot into their bigger plans for the franchise…provided it makes enough money to justify doing so.

The site notes that Alex Kurtzman’s The Mummy will officially be the first film in their new series, and we know that Fargo writer Noah Hawley is writing another creature feature (though we don’t know which one). The word according to the site is that if Dracula Untold flops at the box office the connection isn’t so strong that they wouldn’t be able to write it off and move ahead with a new Dracula movie.

With the film opening this weekend, we might have a definitive answer soon.

Dracula Untold opens in UK cinemas tomorrow. For all your monster movie needs, check out the new issue of SciFiNow.
