Doctor Who Series 8 casts Michelle Gomez

Michelle Gomez, the star of Green Wing, Bad Education and The Book Group, has been cast in Doctor Who Series 8.

Digital Spy reports that Gomez will be playing The Gatekeeper of the Nethersphere, about whom we know very little, except that she’s got a slightly evil Mary Poppins look about her. Steven Moffat stated that “I’ve known Michelle for years, and I’m thrilled to welcome her to Doctor Who. She’s everything we need – brilliant, Scottish, and a tiny bit satanic.”

Gomez said “Well, of course Peter Capaldi is our next Doctor, which makes complete sense. I’m thrilled to join him.”
