Disney Pixar’s new movie Soul set for 2020 release

Soul joins Onward on Disney Pixar’s 2020 slate

Disney Pixar have announced, pretty much out of the blue, that they have a new film coming out in 2020 – Soul, directed by Pete Docter.

The film is still being kept heavily underwraps, but Pixar announced that Soul will ‘take you on a journey from the streets of New York City to the cosmic realms to discover the answer to life’s most important questions’. So far, so vague.

It sounds like this film is going to see Disney Pixar in their more philosophical vein, in line with the likes of Coco and Inside Out (which Docter also directed). It certainly, based on what little information we have, seems quite closely aligned to Inside Out, even down to the colour scheme in the Soul logo.

Soul isn’t the only Disney Pixar film we’ve got coming our way in 2020 – fantasy comedy Onward is scheduled for release on 6 March 2020, centering on the relationship between two elf-like brothers on a modern day quest, voiced by Tom Holland and Chris Pratt, both fresh from co-starring in Avengers: Endgame.

Soul will be released on 19 June 2020. Get all the latest movie news in every issue of SciFiNow.
