Rock legend Iggy Pop has been cast in Dario Argento’s upcoming film The Sandman.

Bloody Disgusting revealed that the icon, who has put in some great work in movies like Jim Jarmusch’s Coffee And Cigarettes and Dead Man, as well as popping up in Cry Baby, Tank Girl and Persepolis, is the first to be cast in the new movie from the director of Suspiria and Tenebrae. It’s not the first time Argento’s cast a rock star, either; his underrated second season Masters Of Horror episode ‘Pelts’ starred Meat Loaf.

The Sandman is currently looking for financing at the Fantasia Film Festival. The only detail known about the film so far is that it’s written by David Tully, who wrote Tobe Hooper’s Djinn. The last time Argento collaborated with writers who’d worked for Hooper,it was Jace Anderson and Adam Gierasch, and together they produced the risible, if entertaining, Mother Of Tears.

You can buy Suspiria on Blu-ray for £18.73 at Amazon.co.uk.
