Emma Stone has dropped out of Guillermo del Toro’s Crimson Peak and Mia Wasikowska is now in talks to take her place

The Amazing Spider-Man star has apparently been forced to bow out of the 1950s ghost story due to scheduling conflicts and The Wrap reports that Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland) is due to step in. Wasikowska delivered a stunning performance in Park Chan-Wook’s superb Stoker and her attachment to the project is an exciting bit of casting.

If the busy Wasikowska can make the scheduling work (she is currently committed to three films including David Cronenberg’s Maps To The Stars) she would join Charlie Hunnam, Jessica Chastain and Benedict Cumberbatch when the film starts shooting early in 2014.

Wasikowska will next be seen in Jim Jarmusch’s vampire romance Only Lovers Left Alive and Richard Ayoade’s Dostoyevsky adaptation The Double.

Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim is released on 12th July. You can buy the Guillermo del Toro Collection on Blu-ray for £21.18 at Amazon.co.uk.
