Steven Soderbergh, whose last full-on sci-fi outing was the 2001 remake of Russian/Polish scowler Solaris, has released the first trailer for his pulse pounding disaster flick Contagion, featuring Kate Winslet, Matt Damon, Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow, Marion Cotillard, Laurence Fishburne, and Sanaa Lathan.
There’s a definite 28 Days Later vibe in the empty, filth-covered streets and army staring down their barrels at those they believe infected, but nothing other than that to suggest it’s science fiction. Oh, except it didn’t happen and it uses questionable science… will that do?
