Conjuring 2 casts AI star for spooky sequel

Find out who will join Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga in The Conjuring 2

Having diverged slightly from the main storyline for prequel story Annabelle, the story of real-life paranormal investigators Lorraine and Ed Warren will continue in The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist. Now, the first cast member has been announced, with The Hollywood Reporter revealing that AI star Frances O’Connor will appear.

As you’ve probably gathered from the title, the sequel will see the Warrens decamp to London to deal with the case of the Enfield Poltergeist (a topic also explored in Sky’s recent miniseries The Enfield Haunting – we’d expect a title change at some point). O’Connor is believed to be playing the mother of a girl who is being haunted, so expect much crying and hair-wringing.

The film will begin production later in September, with Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga both returning to reprise their roles alongside O’Connor. James Wan will also return to direct, with Chad Hayes, Carey Hayes and David Johnson on board as writers.

The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist will be released in cinemas on 17 June 2016. For more news on the biggest movies, pick up the latest issue of SciFiNow.
