Cloak And Dagger TV show gets series order

Marvel’s Cloak And Dagger are the latest heroes to get a TV series

Not quite every Marvel property has been adapted for the screen yet , but it looks like the House of Ideas is determined to give it a go, with superpowered duo Cloak and Dagger being the latest Marvel superheroes to be confirmed for their own TV series, with a report in Variety confirming that American network Freeform (previously ABC Family) has picked up the show for a straight-to-series order.

Produced by Marvel Studios and ABC Signature Studios, no cast or crew members have been confirmed as of yet, but regardless there’s an exciting amount of material for the draw upon considering the creative potential of the two characters.

The series will follow the adventures of friends/closer than friends Tyrone Johnson (Cloak) and Tandy Bowen (Dagger), who in the comics are teen runaways who develop superhuman abilities after being experimented upon with a mystery drug: Cloak gaining the powers of teleportation (as well as being to teleport people through him), and Dagger the ability to throw ‘light daggers’ of energy. After this they embark on a superhero career – as you do.

While their own series from the comic-books has stopped and started over the years, they have nonetheless been a regular fixture in the Marvel universe, regularly teaming up with Marvel’s most prominent and well-known citizens and playing prominent roles in a number of the big crossover events.

It’s also a nice coup for Freeform, who recently saw Shadowhunters renewed for a second season. Moreover, with Agent Carter‘s future in doubt (despite critical acclaim), it looks like we could have a ready-made replacement in the form of Cloak And Dagger.
