A new film from French director Claire Denis is always cause for excitement, and this news about her next project is particularly thrilling.

Screen International reports that the director of White Material, Bastards, 35 Shots Of Rum and Beau Travail is teaming up with brilliant author Zadie Smith (White Teeth, The Autograph Man, On Beauty) and Smith’s author husband Nick Laird (Utterly Monkey, Glover’s Mistake) for a sci-fi film set in space.

According to the report, “plot details are being kept under wraps on the as-yet untitled adventure-sci-fi but it is known to take place beyond the solar system in a ‘future that seems like the present.'”

Artist Olafur Eliasson, astrophysicist Aurélien Barrau and musician Stuart Staples will also be involved in the film.

We’re big fans of Denis’ work and we’re really excited to see the result of this intriguing collaboration, and to see what a Claire Denis sci-fi movie looks like.
