Walt Disney has released a number of new details for Tim Burton’s upcoming 3D take on Lewis Carroll’s Alice In Wonderland via an article in USA Today, debuting a trio of new character photos to boot. Featuring Johnny Depp – appropriately garish as the Mad Hatter – Helena Bonham Carter (aka Mrs Burton) as the more conventionally styled Red Queen, and Anne Hathaway as the White Queen, the article is accompanied by quotes from producer Richard Zanuck, who confirms that the classic tale “has been Burton-ized”, and is also a sequel of sorts, with Alice returning to Wonderland as a teenager after a ten-year hiatus. Click on the thumbnails above to see the full images, and check out the article here to see concept art and read more tidbits from the production. At the moment this looks like it could meld the colours and narrative-style of Charlie And The Chocolate Factory with the Gothic Victorian atmosphere of Sweeney Todd, but we’ll have to wait until March next year to find out.
