Blade Runner 2 casts Dave Bautista officially for real

Those Dave Bautista Blade Runner 2 rumours are true

Those Dave Bautista Blade Runner 2 rumours have been floating around, but it’s finally been confirmed as official so we can all calm down.

Slashfilm reported an official press release from Warner Bros, which stated that the star of Guardians Of The Galaxy and Spectre has joined the cast of Denis Villeneuve’s sequel to Ridley Scott’s classic.

“Dave Bautista will join Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford and Robin Wright in an important supporting role in Alcon Entertainment’s sequel to Ridley Scott’s 1982 masterpiece BLADE RUNNER, it was announced by Alcon co-founders and co-CEO’s Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson,” begins the press release. Yep, no details here, although it’s nice to see Wright’s participation confirmed.

The lack of any real details continued in the plot synopsis portion of the press release: “The film is set several decades after the 1982 original, with Harrison Ford reprising his iconic role as Rick Deckard. The film is written by Hampton Fancher and Michael Green, and succeeds the initial story by Fancher and David Peoples based on Philip K. Dick’s novel Do Androids Dream of Electric SheepStory details, as well as Bautista’s character, are not being revealed.”

Bautista confirmed the news himself in an adorable video on his Twitter account:

Seems like he’d make a great replicant, but maybe that’s too obvious…although this Twitter picture of him with the origami unicorn would seem to support that theory.

Blade Runner 2 will be released 12 January 2018. Keep up with the latest genre with the new issue of SciFiNow.
