Since Joss Whedon announced that Avengers: Age Of Ultron will be his last Marvel movie (for now, winky face), directing duo Joe and Anthony Russo have been rumoured to be taking over from Whedon for Avengers: Infinity War.

According to Badass Digest, the rumour has finally been confirmed and the Russo Brothers are set to start production on Infinity War Part 1 next year for the May 2018 release date. The pair will also be working on Infinity War Part 2, which is out a year after.

The Russos aren’t strangers to the MCU; they directed last year’s hit Captain America: The Winter Soldier and are due to start working on Captain America: Civil War in the next few weeks.

Writers for Infinity War haven’t been announced yet but Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely are apparently in talks with Marvel to join the project. The pair are known in the MCU for writing all three Captain America films and creating/producing Agent Carter.

Avengers: Age Of Ultron will be in cinemas on 23 April 2015 in the UK and 1 May 2015 in the US. You can buy Avengers Assemble on Blu-ray for £15.51 from Amazon.co.uk. Get all the latest Marvel news with every new issue of SciFiNow.
