Ash Vs Evil Dead: groovy new casting for TV Series

Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead spinoff Ash Vs Evil Dead adds to its roster

Mimi Rogers
Mimi Rogers (seen here in Mad Men) is the latest name to join Ash Vs Evil Dead

The cast of Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead spinoff/sequel Ash Vs Evil Dead is continuing to expand, with the latest announcement being that Ginger Snaps and Austin Powers star Mimi Rogers is joining the production, accoring to a report on The Hollywood Reporter.

According to the show’s synopsis, she will be playing Suzy Maxwell, the mother of Kelly (Dana DeLorenzo), who has to cope with an awkward family reunion after being involved in a freak accident. As this is the world of Evil Dead, we’re going to guess that Deadites are involved in some way, as is Bruce Campbell’s Ash.

Rogers joins a cast that already includes Lucy Lawless (Xena: Warrior Princess, Spartacus: Blood & Sand), Jill Marie Jones (Sleepy Hollow, American Horror Story) and Ray Santiago (In Time, Touch), in addition to DeLorenzo (Californication, Barely Famous) and Campbell.

For those who are unaware, Ash Vs Evil Dead sees a down-on-his luck Ash, who having spent years avoiding any kind of responsibility, is spurred back into action by a fresh Deadite attack.

Original director Sam Raimi wrote the first episode alongside his brother Ivan, and will also produce with Bruce Campbell and Rob Tapert, with Craig DiGregorio taking on showrunning duties.

Ash Vs Evil Dead will air on Starz in the US in 2015. For more on the biggest TV series, pick up the latest issue of SciFiNow.
