Arrowverse’s Crisis On Infinite Earths casts Smallville’s Tom Welling

Smallville’s Tom Welling is returning as Superman for this year’s Arrowverse crossover event

Smallville star Tom Welling is officially set to reprise his role as the original CW Clark Kent/Superman in the Arrowverse’s upcoming crossover event Crisis On Infinite Earths, EW reports. We thought we’d never see the day.

Welling joins Supergirl‘s Tyler Hoechlin and DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow‘s Brandon Routh, who portrayed the Man of Steel in the film Superman Returns, in the three-part role.

Talking to EW, the crossover’s executive producer Marc Guggenheim said: “For eight years, Arrow has stood on the shoulders of Smallville. Simply put, there would be no Arrow, and no Arrowverse, without it. So when we first started talking about Crisis on Infinite Earths, our first, second and third priorities were getting Tom to reprise his iconic role as Clark Kent. To say that we’re thrilled would be a Superman-sized understatement.”

The Crisis On Infinite Earth crossover event is set to begin on Supergirl on 8 December in the US, with the story continuing on Batwoman on 9 December, The Flash on 10 December, Arrow on 14 January after the shows’ winter hiatus, and DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow on 14 January after Arrow.
