The CW’s Arrow/Flash spin-off has confirmed a couple of very exciting new characters to join their latest superhero drama.

Deadline reports that Doctor Who‘s Arthur Darvill has signed on to play Rip Hunter, “a roguish time traveler who hides the strains of being responsible for history itself behind a facade of charm and wit.”

Newcomer Ciara Renée has also joined the cast as Kendra Saunders, aka Hawkgirl. It looks as though we’ll see her discovering her identity over the series, as Deadline describes her as “a young woman who is just beginning to learn that she has been repeatedly reincarnated over the centuries. When provoked, her ancient warrior persona manifests itself, along with wings that grow out of her back, earning her the moniker Hawkgirl.”

There’s still another new male character that has yet to be confirmed or cast…

The as-yet untitled Arrow/Flash spin-off stars Brandon Routh as The Atom, Wentworth Miller as Captain Cold, Dominic Purcell as Heat Wave, Victor Garber as Dr Martin Stein, and Arrow‘s Caity Lotz, who might be playing Sara Lance…or maybe not.

Arrow is airing now on Tuesday nights on Sky1 in the UK. Read all about the rise of TV’s Justice League in issue 103 of SciFiNowFor more on the comics that inspire the series, pick up our 100 All-Time Greatest Comics bookazine now!
