According to The Hollywood Reporter, Arrow Season 3 Episode 3 has added Medium‘s David Cubitt to the cast as Mark Shaw, better known to comic fans as Manhunter.
The site described Shaw as “an ARGUS operative in Corto Maltese who crosses paths with Diggle.”
ARGUS have something of a SHIELD role in the DC TV universe, which fits neatly with Shaw’s own comic-book origins as a public defender who (deep breaths, folks) became embroiled in the Manhunter cult based around the android space police created by the Guardians of Oa prior to the Green Lantern Corps.
After being led up the garden path by the Manhunters, Shaw served with the Suicide Squad before acting as a bounty hunter for various agencies.
Despite claiming to be a businessman, Shaw more often than not acts as a hero – even being offered the role of Azrael, the Batman-baiting avenging angel of the Order of Dumas.
In the New 52, Shaw appears as a US Marshall hunting down supervillains and described as “one of the best manhunters” on the force. Which if we’re being realistic obviously fits The CW’s plans for the character…
