Wesley Strick (Cape Fear/Wolf/Doom) has been hired to pen the script for a new movie which will, according to The Hollywood Reporter, still be set in an American high school and which will delve deeper into both Mr Kreuger’s back story and the psychology of nightmares.

While no announcements have been made regarding casting, particularly that of the evil child killer that was so memorably played by Robert Englund, New Line’s plan is to have the film ready for the original 1984 film’s 25th anniversary next year.
