With Sony having moved the release date for The Amazing Spider-Man 3 out of 2016 and into 2018, the studio is looking to fill the gaps in the schedule.
According to Deadline, Drew Goddard’s 2016 Sinister Six movie will be followed by a female-led superhero film in 2017, to be written by Burn Notice co-producer and Pushing Daisies writer Lisa Joy.
The site notes that Sony is “doing a top-to-bottom revamp of its most important property,” so while Black Cat, aka Felicia Hardy, who was introduced in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is an obvious contender, there’s no reason why that should continue to hold true.
That said, credible contenders are thin on the ground and limited to Spider-Girl and the second Spider-Woman, Julia Carpenter.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is available to pre-order now on DVD for £10 and Blu-ray for £15 from Amazon.co.uk. Find out more about the comics that inspired the film with new digital magazine Uncanny Comics. Thwip thwip.
