ABC have revealed that their Agent Carter TV show – a prequel to Agents Of SHIELD – will be directed by those who know Hayley Atwell’s unflinching super-spy Peggy Carter best.

Captain America: The First Avenger‘s Joe Johnston and Captain America: The Winter Soldier‘s Anthony and Joe Russo will ‘both’ be directing episodes of the show, while Marvel Studios co-president Louis D’Esposito will helm the pilot episode.

Though D’Esposito has few credits as sole director, he did helm the Agent Carter one-shot that set the tone and made the series possible. The Russos, obviously, have plenty of TV experience from the likes of Arrested Development and Community.

It’s going to be an interesting experience for Johnston, as the director of The Rocketeer, Jurassic Park 3 and Jumanji heads behind the camera on the small screen for the first time since his 1993 episode of The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles!

Agent Carter will debut January 2015 on ABC in the US, during Agents Of SHIELD‘s mid-season break. Find out more about the comics that inspired the show with new digital magazine Uncanny Comics
