Snowpiercer gets US release date at last

Bong Joon-Ho’s Snowpiercer finally rolls into US cinemas in June

SnowpiercerBong Joon-Ho’s superb sci-fi Snowpiercer will finally be getting a US released date after months of controversy about proposed cuts from The Weinstein Company.

Collider reports that Snowpiercer‘s release is 27 June, which pitches it against Transformers: Age Of Extinction.

The site also notes that, although the US will be getting Bong Joon-Ho’s director’s cut, the limited release will only expand if it performs very well. Given that it’s been positioned against Michael Bay’s mega-budget sequel, this seems like an uphill struggle.

Still, with such persistently positive word of mouth about Snowpiercer (read our review here), we can only hope that people turn out to see it, and that a UK release date isn’t far behind.
