Star Wars: Rebels Sam Witwer up for Dark Side role

Is Star Wars: The Clone Wars’ Sam Witwer voicing the Inquisitor in new animated series Rebels?

As Dave Filoni’s go-to-guy for Dark Side characters on Star Wars: The Clone Warsgenre icon Sam Witwer seems an obvious shoo-in for Star Wars: Rebels, Disney’s new animated series currently being developed by Filoni as a bridge between the Prequel Trilogy and the Original Trilogy.

“It’s always possible!” reveals Witwer, speaking exclusively to SciFiNow.

“At this point [Dave Filoni and I] are friends and we catch up a lot, but we talk about Star Wars so much, it was never just a job for anyone who worked on that show.”

Given his past Force-wielding credits, which include the morally ambiguous Starkiller in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, as well as the terrifying Son and fan-favourite Sith apprentice Darth Maul in The Clone Wars, Witwer would be an obvious choice for the show’s much-teased big bad

“I can tell you right now I’m not playing the Inquisitor,” he asserts.

I’m sure fans would love to see – or at least hear – you again!

“It’s always possible,” laughs the star. “Always possible…”

Star Wars: Rebels will air at the end of 2014. Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 5 is available now on DVD for £19.25 and Blu-ray for £25 from Amazon.co.uk right now.
