According to Deadline, star Hugh Jackman and director James Mangold are in talks with 20th Century Fox to reunite for a sequel to The Wolverine with Mangold to write a treatment as soon as the paperwork is signed.
Though written off due to its middling US takings (a calculated risk for a production that clearly had its eye on the Asian market), The Wolverine – which grossed $413,557,109 worldwide – is comfortably the second strongest performing X-Men film after the largely unloved X-Men: The Last Stand, which pulled in $459,359,555 in 2006.
Crucially, it outperformed X-Men Origins: Wolverine and X-Men: First Class – the two most recent entries to the canon.
X-Men: Days Of Future Past is released on 18 July 2014. You can buy X-Men: The Ultimate Collection on Blu-ray for £26.24 at Amazon.co.uk.
