War Machine may have been on a government mission when Loki’s army invaded New York in Avengers Assemble, but word is that he might be making an Avengers Assemble 2 date in his diary.

Speaking exclusively to SciFiNow, Iron Man 3 star Don Cheadle revealed who James ‘Rhodey’ Rhodes would bond with the most if he were to assemble wioth the next incarnation of the Avengers.

“Probably Captain America, he’d love winding Tony up,” laughs Cheadle. “He’d tell him [Cap] to take the piss out of Tony all the time, like, ‘Talk about his height!’”

He also shared the conversations he’s had with Marvel about the future of War Machine and a potential solo movie.

“We were saying it would be interesting if War Machine goes rogue and is no longer working for the military and somehow he gets a dishonourable discharge because he does something he thinks he should do morally, but it’s against the policies of the country,” he says.

“How would that work if he’s no longer a Colonel, he’s just out there on his own? I think there are definitely places to go with him.”

There’s no word yet on whether Iron Man 4 will happen with the current cast, but Cheadle says he’s happy with how his character has progressed, should this be the last spin in the suit.

“If we’re going out on this one, I was glad to go out outside of the suit,” he told us. “It was interesting because we said ‘Well now the suit’s off, Rhodey’s more in his element than Tony is’.

“He’s always telling Tony what to do and where to point the gun and where to move, so it was cool to have that dynamic be different that the last two.”
