It’s fairly inconceivable that we’d ever have a Star Wars film without the legendary orchestral score of composer John Williams, and he himself previously expressed his enthusiasm for JJ Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode VII.

However, the director himself has finally confirmed their intention to bring Williams back into the fold, when asked if he’d considered using his own regular composer Michael Giacchino.

“Michael Giacchino is an incredible composer, who I was lucky enough to begin working with on Alias,” said Abrams, who also used Giacchino on Star Trek Into Darkness.

“He’s truly one of the most influential members of our crew, and I think this score, he really outdid himself. Again, for Star Wars, it’s very early days, but I believe that, going forward, John Williams will be doing that film, because he was there long before I was.”
