Star Wars Episode 7: John Williams wants to do the music

Star Wars composer John Williams is “ready to go” for JJ Abrams’ Episode 7

John Williams in action

All of your favourite moments from Star Wars are inseparable from the John Williams epic, Oscar-winning score – whether Luke Skywalker’s whistful horizon scanning in Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope, or the tense, gothic crescendo of Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon’s battle with Darth Maul in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace.

Speaking at the Young Musicians Foundation debut concert (as reported by a user on the JWFans.com forum), Williams seemed keen to get involved in JJ Abrams’ new Star Wars trilogy, saying, “Each time we play [the Star Wars theme], I’m reminded of the first time we played it decades ago.

“Neither I, nor George, nor anyone else involved thought this would go far or in a few years there would be a sequel and I’d have to revisit the themes… and years later another trilogy.  Now we’re hearing of a new set of movies coming in 2015, 2016… so I need to make sure I’m still ready to go in a few years for what I hope would be continued work with George…”
