JJ Abrams working on Portal and Half-Life films

JJ Abrams and Valve’s Gabe Newell reveal Half-Life and Portal movies in development.

Speaking at the DICE Summit for videogame executives, Star Trek Into Darkness and Star Wars: Episode 7 director JJ Abrams and Valve president Gabe Newell announced that the Half-Life and Portal movies are on the way.

Both are in the early stages of development at Bad Robot and Valve, and details are quite thin on the ground with both creators just talking up storytelling potential.

Abrams it seems does have an enthusiasm for at least one of the games, saying, “You start Portal with no idea why you’re there. The whole game is about figuring out the mystery and what’s going on. The more you play, the more you learn, the more you felt.”

Star Trek Into Darkness is due in cinemas 17 May 2013. Pick up the first film on DVD for £5.09 or Blu-ray for £8.79 from Amazon.co.uk.
