Marvel haven’t been shy about pushing some of their more obscure characters to the fore in the Joss Whedon-steered Phase 2, with James Gunn taking on less well-known cosmic crimefighters Guardians Of The Galaxy and Edgar Wright at work on Ant-Man.
Speaking to BuzzFeed, Jeph Loeb, who works as Marvel’s head of TV, was expanding on the use of Danny Rand, aka Iron Fist, Luke Cage, his Heroes For Hire partner, and the cosmic-powered Nova in the Ultimate Spider-Man animated series, revealing that plans were afoot for a much larger role for the Heroes For Hire duo, and for Nova (who’s star logo was teased in the original Guardians Of The Galaxy concept art).
“Keep in mind this project started almost three years ago and at the time we were looking forward to who might be the next big characters, the next big franchises,” said Loeb. “Just like we just announced Guardians Of The Galaxy, we are certainly looking at the Heroes For Hire franchise which is Luke Cage and Iron Fist, and Nova is very important to us
